A flavorful tuna steak marinated in a savory soy and lemon mixture, then seared to perfection for a delicious main course.

Ingredients

Marinade

  • 0.25 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 0.25 cup soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon cardamom
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • 0.5 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 clove garlic (minced)
  • 4 ounces tuna steaks

Instructions 

  • Combine water, lemon juice, soy sauce, sesame oil, cardamom, thyme, and garlic in a bowl.
  • Pour marinade into a bag, add tuna steaks, and coat evenly. Marinate for 20 minutes at room temperature.
  • Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Remove steaks from marinade and cook each side for about 2 minutes, brushing with marinade.
  • Check that internal temperature reaches 125°F, then rest for 2 minutes before serving.
