Enjoy tender shrimp coated in a smoky barbecue sauce, cooked quickly in a skillet for a flavorful meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound raw large shrimp (tails on or off)
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1.5 tablespoons vegetable oil (divided)
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 0.5 teaspoon hot sauce (or to taste)
  • to taste salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • for serving lemon wedges and fresh chopped parsley

Instructions 

  • Thaw the shrimp if frozen.
  • Mix ketchup, 1 tbsp oil, brown sugar, lemon juice, chili powder, cumin, hot sauce, salt, and pepper; set aside 2 tbsp for later.
  • Toss shrimp in marinade; let sit 10-15 minutes.
  • Heat ½ tbsp oil in skillet; cook shrimp 1 min, brush with reserved sauce, cook 1 more min until pink and opaque.
  • Transfer shrimp to plate; garnish with herbs and lemon wedges.

Notes

Serve immediately with extra lemon wedges and herbs for added flavor.
