A flavorful pasta dish combining rich beef, fresh basil pesto, and creamy sauce for a satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Pasta

  • 340 grams pasta (such as rigatoni, or any small shaped pasta)
  • 1 medium onion (finely chopped)
  • 454 grams ground beef
  • 240 ml heavy cream
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 17 grams tomato paste
  • 0.25 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 25 grams fresh basil leaves (packed)
  • 20 grams pine nuts
  • 50 grams Parmesan cheese (grated)
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 60 ml olive oil (more if needed)

Salt and pepper

Instructions 

  • Blend basil, pine nuts, Parmesan, and garlic to make pesto; drizzle in olive oil until smooth. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Cook pasta in salted water until al dente; drain and reserve ½ cup pasta water.
  • Sauté chopped onion in olive oil until softened; add minced garlic and cook briefly.
  • Add ground beef; cook until browned, then stir in tomato paste and red pepper flakes. Cook 2 minutes.
  • Pour in heavy cream; simmer until slightly thickened. Mix in pesto and adjust with reserved pasta water if needed.
  • Toss cooked pasta with sauce; serve hot with extra Parmesan.

Notes

Use fresh basil for best flavor and adjust seasoning to taste.
