This quick and flavorful teriyaki chicken is perfect for a weeknight dinner, combining tender chicken with a savory homemade sauce.

Ingredients

Protein

  • 1.25 lbs boneless skinless chicken breasts, diced into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • 0.25 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 0.25 cup water
  • 2 Tbsp honey
  • 1.5 Tbsp packed light brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp rice vinegar
  • 0.25 tsp toasted sesame oil
  • 2 tsp peeled and minced fresh ginger
  • 2 tsp peeled and minced fresh garlic
  • 2 tsp cornstarch

Garnish

  • Sesame seeds
  • Chopped green onions

Instructions 

  • Mix soy sauce, water, honey, brown sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, ginger, garlic, and cornstarch to make the sauce.
  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and cook chicken until browned and cooked through, about 8 minutes.
  • Add the sauce to the skillet and simmer until thickened, about 3-5 minutes.
  • Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions before serving.

Notes

Serve over steamed rice for a complete meal.
