Delicious and quick ground beef tacos perfect for a weeknight dinner. Customize with your favorite toppings for a satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Meat

  • 1 lb ground beef (best is between 80-95 lean)
  • 1 cup crushed tomatoes or tomato passata
  • 0.25 cup vegetable oil or neutral oil
  • 0.5 Tbsp chili powder (adjust to taste)
  • 0.5 tsp ground cumin
  • 0.5 tsp dried oregano
  • 0.5 tsp garlic powder
  • 0.5 tsp onion powder
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper
  • 12 pieces taco shells (use hard taco shells, or soft corn or flour tortillas)
  • shredded lettuce (Iceberg or Romaine)
  • lime wedges lime wedges
  • homemade or store-bought salsa (thick and chunky or Pico de Gallo or jarred salsa)
  • sour cream or Greek yogurt sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • cheese Monterey Jack, Tex-Mex blend, Cheddar, or Cotija

Instructions 

  • Mix chili powder, cumin, oregano, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper in a small bowl to make the seasoning.
  • Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat, add ground beef, and cook until browned, breaking into crumbs (4-5 min).
  • Drain excess grease, reduce heat to low, add seasoning, and cook 1-2 min. Stir in crushed tomatoes and simmer 3-4 min.
  • Warm tortillas in a dry skillet or oven. Divide beef mixture onto tortillas, add cheese, and melt if desired.
  • Top with lettuce, lime wedges, salsa, and sour cream. Serve immediately.

Notes

Adjust seasonings and toppings to taste for best results.
