A delicious and versatile pear sauce flavored with cinnamon and vanilla, perfect for topping desserts or enjoying on its own.

Ingredients

Fruits

  • 4 pounds pears (around 10 medium pears), sliced (You may peel or leave the peels on)
  • 0.25 cup water
  • 2 tsp. lemon juice (juice from one lemon)
  • 1.5 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 3 tsp. sweetener, optional (honey, maple syrup, or sucanat) (Add to taste if desired)

Instructions 

  • Wash and slice pears, then add to a large saucepan.
  • Add water, lemon juice, cinnamon, and vanilla to the saucepan.
  • Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 20-25 minutes until pears are soft.
  • Blend the mixture until smooth using an immersion blender or in a regular blender.
  • Add sweetener if desired, then transfer to jars for storage. Freeze or can as preferred.

Notes

This sauce can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week or frozen for longer storage.
