Ingredients

Meat

  • 2 lbs beef chuck or stew meat (cut into cubes)

Vegetables & Aromatics

  • 1 large onion (finely chopped)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)

Canned Goods

  • 1 can crushed tomatoes (14 oz)
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste

Broth & Liquids

  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 cups hot water or beef broth (as needed)

Spices & Seasonings

  • 1 stick cinnamon stick
  • 1 tsp ground allspice
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp sugar (optional, to balance acidity)

Pasta & Grains

  • 1.5 cups orzo pasta

Cheese & Garnish

Instructions 

  • Brown the beef in olive oil until browned on all sides.
  • Add chopped onion and minced garlic; cook until softened.
  • Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, spices, and beef broth; simmer for 30 minutes.
  • Add orzo pasta and hot water or broth; cook until pasta is tender and liquid is absorbed.
  • Serve topped with grated cheese and chopped parsley.

Notes

Use good quality cheese for best flavor. Adjust seasoning to taste.
